ADMISSION EXERCISES FOR GCE ‘O’ LEVEL 1. JOINT ADMISSIONS EXERCISE [JAE] The Joint Admissions Exercise is open to: • All Singapore Citizens (SC) or Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) with valid SingaporeCambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examinations results from any year. • International students studying in a Government School, Government-Aided School, or an Independent School in Singapore with valid 2018 Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination results.

Note: • Successful DSA-JC (Direct School Admission-Junior College) or Early Admissions Exercise [EAE] candidates will not be able to participate in the JAE. • Candidates who are current JC, Millennia Institute or polytechnic students, or who were previously admitted to a JC, MI or polytechnic will not be eligible for the institution in the same category through JAE. (For e.g. if you are currently studying in a polytechnic or you have studied in a polytechnic before, you will not be eligible for a polytechnic in the JAE). APPLICATION PERIOD The JAE will open for registration on the same day as the official announcement of the 2018 Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination results, for a duration of five calendar days. The exact registration dates will be announced in the media together with the announcement on the release of the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination results. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION Applicants are required to submit their applications online through the MOE’s JAE Internet System, using their SingPass / JAE PIN. NOTIFICATION ON OUTCOME OF APPLICATION Applicants will be notified by MOE of the outcome of their application about two weeks after the JAE registration period. Thus, it is not necessary to contact the Joint Admissions Board or the polytechnics prior to the release of the posting results. JAE applicants may check their posting results through the following channels: • JAE-IS at http://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/joint-admissions-exercise • Short Messaging System (SMS) via applicant’s mobile number (if a valid Singapore mobile number is provided by applicants during the JAE application) MOE’S HOTLINE For more information, students may call the MOE Customer Service Centre at 6872-2220 during office hours. EARLY ADMISSIONS EXERCISE [EAE] EAE is open to: • Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who have registered to sit for the GCE ‘O’ Level examinations in the year of the EAE; and • International Students enrolled in Government, Government-aided and Independent Schools during the year of the application, and who have registered to sit for the GCE O-Level Examination in the year of the EAE. For the EAE Exercise, the polytechnics will take into account students’ abilities, talents and interests in the specific courses that they have applied for. Students with other outstanding talents and achievements, such as in sport, arts, leadership, entrepreneurship and community service, may also be considered.

APPLICATION PERIOD The Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) will commence in June/July every year, for admission into polytechnics the following year. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION Online application through the EAE portal at https://eae.polytechnic.edu.sg Applicants can apply for a maximum of three courses from a single polytechnic, across different polytechnics or any other combinations. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a selection interview. NOTIFICATION OF OUTCOME OF APPLICATION Applicants may retrieve posting results from the EAE website in mid-August 2019. Successful EAE applicants will receive only one offer regardless of the number of polytechnics they have applied to.

POLYTECHNIC FOUNDATION PROGRAMME (PFP) ADMISSION EXERCISE (cont’d) SECONDARY 4 NORMAL (ACADEMIC) STUDENTS WHO HAVE SAT FOR GCE ‘O’ LEVEL EXAMS IN A FEW SUBJECTS. The PFP is also available to Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students who have sat for GCE ‘O’Level subjects. These students are allowed to combine their ‘N’ and ‘O’-Level examination results to compute their eligibility. If a student takes the same subject at both ‘N’ and ‘O’ Levels, only the better grade will be computed into his or her aggregate. The following GCE ‘O’-Level Grade conversion matrix will be adopted during the computation of aggregates. ‘O’ LEVEL GRADE

APPLICATION PERIOD The PFP Admission Exercise is conducted jointly by the five polytechnics. The exercise will take place concurrently with JAE in January 2019. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION Under the PFP Admission Exercise, applicants can apply for a maximum of five courses. These applications can be submitted online via the PFP website at https://pfp.polytechnic.edu.sg. NOTIFICATION ON OUTCOME OF APPLICATION Applicants may retrieve posting results from the PFP website in late January 2019. Successful PFP applicants will receive only one offer regardless of the number of courses they have applied to.

Due to the special requirements of the healthcare professions, all applicants for the Diploma in Nursing and Diploma in Oral Health Therapy have to pass a medical examination and be certified to have the following abilities to perform patient care activities in a safe and effective manner: • Mental ability (interpersonal ability and behavioural stability) to provide safe care to populations, as well as safety to self, and demonstrate self-control and behavioural stability to function and adapt effectively and sensitively in a dynamic role. • Physical ability to move around in clinical environment, walk/stand, bend, reach, lift, climb, push and pull, carry objects and perform complex sequences of hand- eye coordination. • Auditory ability to hear faint body sounds, auditory alarms and normal speaking level sounds (i.e. blood pressure sounds, monitors, call bells and person-to-person report). • Visual ability to detect changes in physical appearance, colour and contour, read medication labels, syringes, manometers, and written communication accurately. 4. Candidates posted to the Diploma in Oral Health Therapy will have to take and pass a manual dexterity test (MDT) as the MDT is required under industry standards to assess the candidate’s fine motor skills crucial for handling of specialised instruments for effective and safe delivery of dental treatment. 5. Applicants with severe colour vision deficiency may encounter difficulties in some modules with high reliance on colour usage. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE At NYP, we provide a number of avenues for those who are in need of financial assistance. 1) STUDY LOANS This scheme is opened to all full-time Diploma students who are Singapore Citizens & Singapore Permanent Residents in any year or course of study in the Polytechnic (Not applicable to Polytechnic Foundation Programme). Eligible students may apply for Study Loan, to pay for part of their tuition fees and living expenses for any two consecutive semesters. 2) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR NOTEBOOK Financial Assistance for Notebook offers full-time non-sponsored newly enrolled NYP students from low income households the opportunity to own a brand new laptop at an affordable price.
