Academic Calendar of Academic Year 2018 Activities Admitted students must report through the online registration system on the website http://reg.kku.ac.th and print the tuition fee payment form from the system. (Thai) Students pay 40,000 Baht of tuition fees and 10,000 Baht of admission fees; a total of 50,000 Baht at the bank. International (non-Thai) students pay 50,000 Baht of tuition fees and 10,000 Baht of admission fees; a total of 60,000 Baht at the bank. Admitted students must complete the registration document and submit the completed document in person at KKUIC office, 9th Floor of the Information Building. KHON KAEN UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE English for Specific Academic Purposes (KKUIC-ESAP) Course Description: The English for Specific Academic Purposes program, or ESAP, is designed for students who need to improve their English-language skills and plan to continue their study at a university level. Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to improve the English language proficiency in higher level and be able to study their interested international majors effectively. The students who have been identified as having a low level of English attainment, so that by the end of the course, they can actively participate in mainstream university courses to an international standard. Students are to successfully demonstrate the following English language and study skills: 1. Academic skills: summarizing, paraphrasing, making predictions, identifying gist 2. English language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing ESAP Courses: 1. English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP1) 1.1 Students, who finish ESAP1 in the summer period and have an Exit Test score from 0% - 49% and new students who are required to study ESAP1, will study ESAP1 course for 140 hours during the first semester and enroll in three General Education courses (the class schedule and list of courses will be announced later on www.ic.kku.ac.th). 1.2 This course provides General English for the first 70 hours and the proceeding 65 hours is Academic English. All four skills will be covered in each class, as following the Communicative Language Teaching style. 1.3 After the 135 hours of study, the students will take the ESAP1 Exit test, and the criteria of the test results are:

Criteria 0% – 49%

Result Study ESAP1 course in the second semester and register for three KKUIC General Education courses, which will be suggested in the announcement of the exit test results.

50% – 79%

Study ESAP2 course in the second semester and register for three KKUIC General Education courses, which will be suggested in the announcement of the exit test results.

80% – 100%

Exit ESAP and register for the regular courses listed in their programs.

1.4 ESAP1 course is instructed in the first semester, the fee for this course is included in the semester tuition fee, so the students do not pay for ESAP1 course. 1.5 The books used in this course is Empower A2 2. English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP2) 2.1 Students who finish ESAP1 in the summer period and have an Exit Test score from 50% – 79%, will study ESAP2 course for 140 hours in the first semester and enroll in three General Education courses (the class schedule and list of courses will be announced later on www.ic.kku.ac.th). 2.2 Students who finish ESAP1 in the first semester and have an Exit Test score from 50% - 79%, will study ESAP2 for 135 hours in the second semester and enroll in three General Education courses (the class schedule and list of courses will be announced later on www.ic.kku.ac.th). 2.3 This course will provide General English for the first 70 hours and the proceeding 65 hours will be Academic English. Exit ESAP and register for the regular courses listed in their programs.

2.5 ESAP 2 course is instructed in the first or second semester, the fee for this course is included in the semester tuition fee, so the students do not pay for ESAP2 course. 2.6 The books used in this course is Empower B1. 3. To Exit ESAP: 3.1 Students who study each ESAP course and have the Exit Test score from 80% - 100%, will exit the ESAP course. 3.2 Students who do not pass the exit test of the last ESAP course of the academic year need to contact KKUIC staff, where each student will be considered on an individual basis, and given suggestions on the options and what courses they may study next.
