Semester / Level of Study Semester 1/ 1st-Year M.Sc. and Ph.D. Students Prerequisites: None Course Description: DNA Cloning; Polymerase Chain Reaction; Systems for Recombinant Protein Expression; Recombinant Protein Purification; Genomic DNA Analysis; siRNA and Gene Expression Analysis; Transgenic and Knockout Animal, Total Protein Profiling by 2D Electrophoresis; Mutagenesis; Protein Analysis Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) At the completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Describe principle of basic techniques in Molecular Biology and cloning correctly. 2. Describe basic techniques in Molecular Biology and cloning required to study structure, process and functions of genes and proteins including interactions correctly.

3. Apply knowledge to design experiments to solve problems in Molecular Biology and cloning. 4. Demonstrate responsibilities and ability to work as a group to solve scientific assignments. Assessment Criteria: Written Exam: 85% Student Presentation and Answer: 5% Group Presentation and Answer: 10% Notes: There will be random quizzes at the end of some topics. ELOs got reviewed after the retreat. ELOs were inspected by AUN-QA experts/assessors through the C2C for OBE workshop 2017. ELOs have been implemented in all courses. Graduates retain qualifications for doing research abroad
