About G.O.A.’L Founded in 1998 for and by Overseas Adopted Koreans (OAKs), G.O.A.’L established the first-ever post-adoption service model and remains a pioneer in creating programs and services as well as advocating for an estimated 200,000 OAKs residing in Korea and 15 western receiving countries. Approximately 3,000 OAKs -- half of which contact G.O.A.L -- annually visit Korea to live, work, or study but face hurdles that prevent them from strengthening their roots and contributing to Korean society. Job Description The Birth Family Search (BFS) Intern reports directly to the BFS Director and is responsible for representing and managing the BFS Department. One of the cornerstones of our services offered to adoptees has been assistance and support with BFS. The BFS Department is run by the BFS Director and support staff assisted by our network of volunteer translators and interpreters assisting adoptees throughout each step of the birth family search. Hours of Work 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, occasionally night and weekend work may apply. Office hours 10:00 - 18:00 Leave all national holidays unless otherwise negotiated.

Duties: 

Reports directly to intern manager



Act as an interpreter, translator to assist French adoptees’ requests



Cooperate with external organizations such as adoption agencies, hospitals, orphanages, etc.

Manage online database and search applications.



Post-adoption services (intake, general communication and consultation in person, over email and phone counseling, etc.)



Facilitate reunions and meetings between adoptees and birth family members.



Promote adoptee community outreach.



Coordinate tasks for French adoptees with related departments.



Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Skills/Qualifications: 

Must be professional, ambitious, punctual, dedicated, responsible, and have a strong desire to apply this experience to the further development of the adoptee/adoptive community and services.



Education: 4 year university degree holders or higher preferred



Language: Must be native French speaker with strong English proficiency



Experience using Microsoft Office, Hangul.



Organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to multi-task.



Experience with an adoption-related field or adoptee organization.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 

Language: Multilingual speakers preferred.



Experience with non-profit or non-governmental organization.
