MY STUDENTS ARE MY CHILDREN Dear Concordians, Welcome all to Concordian – 2011-2012 academic year. I hope everyone had a great summer and is ready for the new and exciting school year. Here, I would like to take this chance to quote a short poem I saw while I was on a school building trip at Amphur Omkoi, Chiangmai Province. It was a rundown school in a mountainous area with no sign of modernization. The school has only one teacher teaching 60 students. Even though they have no high-tech computers or beautiful campus, the school is surrounded by beautiful nature with a lovely teacher who devoted her life to teaching and loving her students in this ‘far-far away land’. As I walked around observing their classroom, a handwritten sign caught my eyes just before I walked out the exit that has no door. It says

“ลูกใครไม่สำคัญ ลูกศิษย์ฉันนั้นคือลูก

ฟูมฟักรักพันผูก จะสอนลูกเป็นคนดี” (Neither matter nor important whose CHILDREN they are... My students are MY CHILDREN. Will Nurture and Love... Teach and Commit... to raise My CHILDREN to be GOOD....".)

It is important to realize that no matter where the school is or who the students are; there is always this similarity among all “great” schools, that is the committed hearts and compassion of the teachers. We, as a school, try our best to give our students the best knowledge and skills that would help them succeed in their career. Yet, at the same time we try even harder to teach them to

become good people with moral, compassion, and integrity. I hope that we all would realize the privileged life we have and are able to embrace the opportunity to teach and to learn as great teachers and students. So that together, we can extend our hands to support those who might need our help. And together, we help change the world.
