2. Features Self Diagnosis The microprocessor provides the possibility to detect and diagnose any fault or malfunction that occurs in the system. The error will be reflected by the blinking of the LED lights and error code is displayed by wireless handset. On top of that, in order to improve serviceability, outdoor unit is also equipped with built in 7-segment display for error code and operating parameters (for RR10/15DV1 only).

Technology Incorporate Intelligent Fuzzy Logic control to achieve more precise temperature control, faster and smoother response. Enhanced design using • Electronic Expansion Valve to achieve optimum refrigerant control as compared to capillary tube. • Discharge pipe temperature control, high pressure limit control, input current control and heat sink temperature control to improve reliability.

On / Off Button on Indoor Unit (for FTK, FFR and FLR) On/Off button is provided on the front panel of the unit. It can be used when the remote controller is missing or if its battery has run out. (Note: This button can also be used for forced operation mode)

Auto Random Restart Auto random restart function allows the unit to automatic restart as the last setting condition when the power supply is resumed after power failure. However, the compressor will restart randomly if more than one unit is installed and sharing the same phase of power.

Wireless Remote Controller (for FTK, FFR and FLR) • The compact LCD transmitter is able to operate the air conditioner unit within the distance of 8 meters. • Fan speed can be set at high / medium / low / automatic. • Sleep mode auto control will gradually increase or decrease the setting temperature to provide a comfortable surrounding for sleeping. • Room temperature is controlled by electronic thermostat. • The real time timer allows the air conditioner to be switched On and Off automatically based on user settings.

ON timer setting • Press the ON TIMER button will activate the on timer function. • Set the desired on time by pressing the ON TIMER button continuously. If the timer is set to 7.30am, the air conditioner will turn on at 7.30am sharp. • Press the CANCEL button to cancel the on timer setting.

12 Sleep mode setting • Press the button will activate the sleep mode function. • This is an energy saving option. When the unit is operating under cooling mode, the set temperature is increased by 0.5°C after 30 minutes, 1˚C after an hour, and 2˚C after 2 hours. • This function is available under COOL mode.

13 Temperature setting • To set the desired room temperature, press the or button to increase or decrease the set temperature. • The temperature setting range is from 16°C to 30°C. • Press both buttons and simultaneously to toggle from °C to °F setting.

MODE Button Press the MODE button to switch operation from COOL, HEAT, AUTO*, DRY*, FAN. Check the display to see in which mode the control is set. *AUTO and DRY are available for selected models only.

TURBO Fan Speed Press the Turbo key once to activate Turbo fan speed. Turbo symbol will be shown. To disable Turbo fan speed and back to previous fan speed, press the Turbo key once again. Turbo fan speed is only valid during COOL mode and HEAT mode. If user presses the fan button or quiet button or unit goes to off, the turbo will be disabled. For the unit that does not have TURBO fan speed it will show high fan speed.

SWING Function Press SWING button to activate the swing function. Press it again to deactivate it. To select Swing mode, press and hold the Swing key for 3 seconds (Swing mode icon will blink). Then use UP or DOWN key to select between “Standard”, “Cold draft prevention” or “Ceiling Soil Prevention”. After 3 seconds of no key press activity, the new selected swing mode will be set. By default, it will follow according to unit swing mode.

QUIET Fan Speed Press the Quiet key once to activate Quiet fan speed. Quiet symbol will be shown. To disable Quiet fan speed and back to previous fan speed, press the Quiet key once again. Quiet fan speed is only valid during COOL mode and HEAT mode. If user presses the fan button or turbo button or unit goes to off, the quiet will be disabled. For the unit that does not have QUIET fan speed it will show low fan speed.

“▲” or “▼” Set Temperature Button Press the temperature button and set the temperature of your choice by pressing “▲” or “▼” button once, temperature changes by 1°C or 1°F. The default temperature setting range is from 16°C to 30°C (60°F to 86°F). When the Option 20 - 30ºC is set, the temperature range limit is set to 20ºC to 30ºC (68°F to 86°F). Pressing both keys simultaneously will toggle the temperature setting between ºC and ºF. No temperature setting is allowed during FAN mode (No set temp display). There is no room temperature display.

SLEEP Function Press the SLEEP button to activate the sleep mode. DRY MODE and FAN MODE are not valid during sleep function.

“ON TIMER” and “OFF TIMER” The unit has 2-event timer, namely Timer 1 and Timer 2, each event has an ON TIMER and an OFF TIMER. All timers are event-triggered timers and can be overridden by the ON/OFF button and Override function. Set Event 1 and Event 2 Timers Process for Timer ON and Timer OFF is the same. 1. Press and hold Timer ON/OFF key for 3 seconds to go into timer setting mode. (Icon ON 1 or OFF 1 will blink) 2. Press UP or DOWN to select Timer 1 or Timer 2 to set. (ʻ1ʼ blinking indicate that Timer 1 is currently selected, ʻ2ʼ blinking indicate that Timer 2 is currently selected) 3. Press Timer ON/OFF key again to confirm. (Day will blink next) 4. Press UP or DOWN to select the day. 5. Press Timer ON/OFF key again to confirm the day. (Hour will blink next) 4. Press UP or DOWN to change the hour. 5. Press Timer ON/OFF key again to confirm the hour. (Minute will blink next) 6. Press UP or DOWN to change the minute. 7. Press Timer ON/OFF key again to confirm the minute. Each timer (Timer 1 ON or Timer 1 OFF or Timer 2 ON or Timer 2 OFF) will only be set separately after all 7 steps, if there is no key operation for 5 seconds during setting the timer, it will automatically exits from setting mode and no changes will be made. ON/OFF timer will be checked every 1 minute. It is not advisable to set ON TIMER and OFF TIMER to have same values. Shall these occur, the effective timer will be treated with priority as stated in Table 1.2. Example: ON TMR 2 settings: DAY – TUE, TIMER – 5.00pm OFF TMR 1 settings: DAY – TUE, TIMER – 5.00pm Outcome when RTC reaches 5.00pm on TUE: - when unit is on, no respond. - when unit is off, unit will trigger to on.

OVERRIDE Function Press the OVERRIDE key once will activate the override function for 1 hour. An indicator “OVERRIDE 1” will show on the LCD. Press the same key again will increase the setting to 2 hours. An indicator “OVERRIDE 2” will be shown. Subsequent press will deactivate the override function. After the override timer is completed, the override function is deactivated and the logo is OFF. All other timers will be resumed.

If gas leaks and accumulates around the unit, it may cause fire ignition. • Ensure that drainage piping is connected properly. If the drainage piping is not connected properly, it may cause water leakage which will dampen the furniture. • Do not overcharge the unit.

This unit is factory pre-charged. Overcharge will cause over-current or damage to the compressor. • Ensure that the unit’s panel is closed after service or installation. Unsecured panels will cause the unit to operate noisily. • Sharp edges and coil surfaces are potential locations which may cause injury hazards. Avoid from being in contact with these places. • Before turning off the power supply, set the remote controller’s ON/OFF switch to the “OFF” position to prevent the nuisance tripping of the unit. If this is not done, the unit’s fans will start turning automatically when power resumes, posing a hazard to service personnel or the user. • Do not operate any heating apparatus too close to the air conditioner unit. This may cause the plastic panel to melt or deform as a result of the excessive heat. • Ensure the color of wires of the outdoor unit and the terminal markings are same to the indoors respectively. • IMPORTANT : DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT IN A LAUNDRY ROOM. • Do not use joined and twisted wires for incoming power supply.

The refrigerant piping can be routed to the unit in a number of ways (left or right from the back of the unit), by using the cut-out holes on the casing of the unit (see figure). Bend the pipes carefully to the required position in order to align it with the holes. For the side and bottom out, hold the bottom of the piping and then position it to the required direction (see figure). The condensation drain hose can be taped to the pipes.

Preliminary Site Survey Be sure to read this manual before installing the air-conditioner indoor unit. • Voltage supply fluctuation must not exceed +10% of rated voltage. Electricity supply lines must be independent of welding transformers which can cause high supply fluctuation. • Ensure that the location is convenient for wiring, piping and drainage. • Do not exert pressure on the resin parts when opening the unit or when moving it after opening. • Do not move the unit from packaging while moving, until it reaches the installation site. Use safe material or protection plates when unpacking it or lifting it to avoid damage or scratches to the unit.

• Ensure a location where: a) Drainage can be done easily. b) Convenient for wiring and piping. c) Which have enough space for installation and service work. d) Where no risk of flammable gas leakage. e) When free from any obstacles in path of cool air discharge and warm air return and must allow spreading of air throughout the room (near the center of the room). f) Must be provided clearance for indoor unit from the wall and obstacles as shown in figure below. g) The installation place must be strong enough to support a load 4 times the indoor unit weight to avoid amplifying noise and vibration. h) The installation place (hanging ceiling surface) must be assuring levelness and the height in the ceiling is 350mm or more. i) The indoor unit must be away from heat and steam sources (avoid installing it near an entrance).

• The drain pipe must be installed as shown in the diagram (see diagram above) to avoid damage caused by leaks and condensation. • For the best result, keep the piping as short as possible. Slant the piping at an angle to improve the flow. • Ensure the drain pipe is securely insulated. • It is necessary to provide a drain trap in the drain outlet to relieve pressure that exists within the unit compared to the outside atmospheric pressure when the unit is operating. The drain trap is to avoid possibility of splashes or an odor. • Keep pipes as straight as possible for easy cleaning and to prevent the accumulation of dirt and debris. • Conduct a water drainage test after the installation is completed. Standard Mounting Ensure that the overhead supports are strong enough to hold the weight of the unit. Piping Works And Flaring Technique • Do not use contaminated or damaged copper tubing. If any piping, evaporator or condenser had been exposed or had been opened for 15 seconds or more, vacuum the system. Generally, do not remove plastic, rubber plugs and brass nuts from the valves, fittings, tubings and coils until it is ready for connection. • If any brazing work is required, ensure that the nitrogen gas is passed through piping and joints while the brazing work is being done. This will eliminate soot formation on the inside walls of the copper tubings. • Cut the pipe stage by stage, advancing the blade of pipe cutter slowly. Extra force and deep cut will cause more distortion of pipe and therefore extra burr. • Remove burrs from cut edges of pipes with a remover (see figure). This will avoid unevenness on the flare faces which will cause gas leak. Hold the pipe on top position and burr emover at lower position to prevent metal chips from entering the pipe. • Insert the flare nuts mounted on the connection parts of both indoor and outdoor unit, into the copper pipes. • The exact length of pipe protruding from the face of the flare die is determined by the flaring tool. • Fix the pipe firmly on the flare die. Match the centers of both the flare die and the flaring punch, and tighten flaring punch fully.

• Align the center of the piping and sufficiently tighten the flare nut with fingers. • Finally, tighten the flare nut with torque wrench until the wrench clicks. • When tightening the flare nut with the torque wrench, ensure that the direction for tightening follows the arrow on the wrench. • The refrigerant pipe connection are insulated by polyurethane.

Special Precautions when Dealing with R410A Unit

TM-RKR-0415-A

R410A is a new HFC refrigerant which does not damage the ozone layer. The working pressure of this new refrigerant is 1.6 times higher than conventional refrigerant (R22), thus proper installation / servicing is essential. • Never use refrigerant other than R410A in an air conditioner which designed to operate with R410A. • POE oil is used as lubricant for R410A compressor, which is different from the mineral oil used for R22 compressor.During installation or servicing, extra precaution must be taken not to expose the R410A system too long to moist air. Residual POE oil in the piping and components can absorb moisture from the air. • To prevent mischarging, the diameter of the service port on the flare valve is different from that of R22. • Use tools and materials exclusively for refrigerant R410A. Tools exclusively for R410A are manifold valve, charging hose, pressure gauge, gas leak detector, flare tools, torque wrench, vacuum pump and refrigerant cylinder. • As an R410A air conditioner incurs higher pressure than R22 units, it is essential to choose the copper pipes correctly. Never use copper pipes thinner than 0.6mm even though they are available in the market. • If the refrigerant gas leakage occurs during installation / servicing, be sure to ventilate fully. If the refrigerant gas comes into contact with fire, a poisonous gas may occur. • When installing or removing an air conditioner, do not allow air or moisture to remain in the refrigerant cycle. • Do not reuse recycle copper pipes.

7. Servicing & Maintenance Warning • Disconnect from main supply before servicing the air conditioner. • The unit is designed to give long life operation with minimum maintenance required. However, it should be regularly checked and the following items should be given due attention.

Maintenance Procedures

1. Remove any dust adhering to the filter by using a vacuum cleaner or wash in lukewarm water (below 40˚C) with a neutral cleaning detergent. 2. Rinse the filter well and dry before placing it back onto the unit. 3. Note: Never use gasoline, volatile substances or chemicals to clean the filter.

At least once every 2 weeks. More frequently if necessary.

Indoor Unit

1. Clean any dirt or dust on the grille or panel by wiping it with a soft cloth soaked in lukewarm water (below 40˚C) and a neutral detergent solution. 2. Note: Never use gasoline, volatile substances or chemicals to clean the indoor unit.

1. Open the front panel • Hold the panel at the recesses on the main unit (2 recesses on right and left sides) and lift it until it stops. 2. Remove the front panel • While lifting the front panel further, slide it to the right and pull it to the front side. The left rotating shaft is detached. Slide the right rotating shaft to the left and pull it to the front side to remove it. 3. Attach the front panel • Align the right and left rotating shafts of the front panel with the grooves and push them all the way in. • Gently close the front panel. (Push both ends and the center on the front panel.)

Air Filter 1. Open the front panel. • Hold the panel at the recesses on the main unit (2 recesses on right and left sides) and lift it until it stops. Recess on main unit

2. Pull out the air filters. • Push a little upwards the tab at the center of each air filter, then pull it down. 3. Clean or replace each filter. • When shaking off remaining water, do not wring the filter. 4. Set the air filter and close the front panel. • Insert claws of the filters into slots of the front panel. Close the front panel slowly and push the panel at the 3 points. (1 on each side and 1 in the middle.) • The air filter have a symmetrical form in the horizontal direction.

Caution • • • •

Don’t touch the metal parts of the indoor unit. It may cause an injury. When removing or attaching the front panel, use a robust and stable stool and watch your steps carefully. When removing or attaching the front panel, support the panel securely with hand to prevent from it falling. For cleansing, do no use hot water above 40°C, benzene, gasoline, thinner, nor other volatile oils, polishing compound, scrubbing brushes, nor other hand stuff. • After cleaning, make sure that the front panel is securely fixed.

Pre Start Up Maintenance

(After Extended Shutdown) • Inspect thoroughly and clean indoor and outdoor units. • Clean or replace air filters. • Clean condensates drain line. • Clean clogged indoor and outdoor coils. • Check fan imbalance before operation. • Tighten all wiring connections and panels. • Check for refrigerant leakage.

Outdoor Models

TM-RKR-0415-A

The design of the Inverter outdoor series allows servicing to be carried out easily. The removal of the top, front and side panels makes almost every part accessible. Under normal circumstances, these outdoor units only require a check and cleaning of air intake coil surface once every 3 months. However, if a unit is installed in areas subjected to much oil mist and dust, the coils must be regularly cleaned by qualified Air Conditioner Service Technicians to ensure sufficient heat exchange and proper operation. Otherwise, the systems life span may be shortened.

Caution • Do not charge OXYGEN, ACETYLENE OR OTHER FLAMMABLE and poisonous gases into the unit when performing a leakage test or an airtight test. These gases could cause severe explosion and damage if exposed to high temperature and pressure. • It is recommended that only nitrogen or refrigerant be charged when performing the leakage or airtight test.

8. Troubleshooting Fault Condition When a malfunction of the air conditioner unit is detected, immediately switch off the main power supply before proceeding with the following troubleshooting procedures. The following are common fault conditions and simple troubleshooting tips. If any other fault conditions which are not listed occur, contact your nearest local dealer. DO NOT attempt to troubleshoot the unit by yourself. No

Fault Conditions

The air conditioner unit will not resume after power failure.

• The auto restart function is not functioning. Please turn on the unit with the wireless / wired controller.

The air flow is too slow or room cannot be cooled sufficiently.

• The air filter is dirty. • The doors and windows are opened. • The air suction and discharge of both indoor and outdoor units are clogged or blocked. • The regulated temperature or temperature setting is not low enough.

Discharge air flow has bad odor.

• Cigarettes, smoke particles, perfume and others, which might have adhered onto the coil, may cause odor. • Contact your nearest dealer.

Condensation on the front air grille of the indoor unit.

• This is caused by air humidity after an extended period of operation. • The set temperature is too low. Increase the temperature setting and operate the unit at high fan speed.

Water flowing out from the air conditioner.

• Switch off the unit and contact your nearest dealer. This might be due to tilted installation.

Hissing air flow sound from the air conditioner unit during operation.

• Liquid refrigerant flowing into the evaporator coil.

The wireless controller display is dim.

• The batteries are discharged. • The batteries are not correctly inserted. • The assembly is not good.

Compressor operates continuously.

• Dirty air filter. Clean the air filter. • Temperature setting too low (cooling). Use higher temperature setting.
